Anh với em đi giữa Sàigòn
Nắng theo từng bước dấu chân son
Gió bay tà áo nhìn yêu quá!
Một phút xa nhau nhớ mỏi mòn...
Biết bao kỉ niệm Sàigòn ơi!
Nằm trên bãi cỏ ngắm mây trôi
Khung trời đại học mầu xanh ngắt
Từng chùm phượng đỏ vẫn rơi rơi...
Ðây Thảo cầm viên - Kia Trưng vương
Từ xưa anh đón buổi tan trường
E ấp nhìn anh cười trong nón
Ðôi lòng hòa điệu đã tơ vương!
Đã mấy mùa trăng ta có nhau
Tin yêu ngây ngất nụ hôn đầu
Dàn trải tâm tình chiều thư viện
Hay bờ sông dạo đếm trăng sao!
Kìa mắt nhìn nhau sóng dạt dào
Đôi lời thề ước có trăng sao!
Cây sẽ liền cành, chim liền cánh
Dù đời hung hiểm với ba đào!
Nhưng rồi định mệnh quá khắt khe
Giã biệt nhau trong buổi trưa hè
Kẻ đã ra đi, người ở lại
Mây sầu che kín nẻo sơn khê!
Sàigòn ngày xưa khuất nẻo rồi!
Vì sao đôi lứa lại đôi nơi?
Những chiều hoang lạnh hồn cô lữ
Kỉ niệm giờ như áng mây trôi...!

SAIGON HAS DISAPPEARED
Side by side, you and I were walking in the middle of Saigon City,
The sunshine seemed to follow your pretty steps.
I loved your long dress that moved in the breeze
Then, we were torn apart,
I missed you so much, honey!
We’ve had a lot of memories, Saigon!
Sometimes we lay down on the lawn to watch the moving clouds.
Here was the University Campus that was green.
A lot of red flamboyant flowers had fallen, one after another.
In front of us was the municipal zoo,
Trung Vuong girl-school was nearby.
I used to wait for you when your class was dismissed.
You were looking at me with a shy, little smile.
My sweetheart, I thought we were falling in love!
We were together for a while,
I remembered we gave each other our first kisses.
We sat together in the library conversing by writing.
Or we went to Saigon river to walk side by side on its banks counting the stars in the sky.
You looked at me and I looked at you romanticly.
We made an oath to love each other forever.
It was like the branches of a tree or two wings of a bird.
Even though life would be rough!
Unfortunately, our destiny was so bad,
We had to separate one summer afternoon.
I went abroad without you!
Sad clouds covered Saigon sky!
Where is our beloved Saigon of the past?
It disappeared from our sight!
Why are we separated? You’re there and I’m here!
I am forever sad and lonely.
Our memories now become the moving clouds in my mind!

Traveling Around Our Country
I have just met you, my sweetheart,
but I think I will admire you as I would,
a beautiful flower.
I will take you around
the chain of Truong Son and Ba Vi Mountain.
We’ll enjoy the sightseeings of Huong Tich pagoda,
Our boat will sail directly to Trinh temple.
We’ll go to Van Mieu to read inscripstions on monuments of the kings of Vietnam.
I’ll also explain for you to understand
their heroic victories.
We’ll then go around the thirty-six streets
of old and new Hanoi.
We’ll enjoy the lake Guom by taking a sampan, looking at the Ngoc Son temple where many people pray with smoking incenses in their hands.
Then we can go to Duong, Ngang, Buom and Dao avenues. where I get you some jewels,
may be a beautiful jade bracelet.
We’ll go to Quan Su pagoda
for you to light an incense.
Nearby Quan Su pagoda is Co Ngu street with many green willows and red jaracandas
which welcome the summer.
Perhaps we can go to Tay lake where the sky, the clouds and the water are immense.
On the other side of Co Ngu street is Lang Bac lake.
We’ll hear the sounds of a monk’s gong.
We’ll then go to Dong Xuan market where lots of merchandise are always displayed.
We also eat pork barbecue, soup, fish and duck meat.
Then I take you to Red River with alluvial water.
On both sides are high embankments.
Standing on these embankments we will be able to see colorful clouds in the afternoon.
We can go to Do Son and perhaps see some water buffalo fightings.
Then we’ll take a boat to head to Sam Son, and Dau Go cave which is in Ha Long bay.
Honey, we’ll leave Hanoi to go to Hue. We’ll be surprised that the time flies fast.
We’ll stand at Ngo Mon, the Royal gate to hear the story from Ngu Binh mountain.
We’ll then go to Nam Giao and visit all of royal monuments such as: Gia Long, Tu Duc etc...
At night, we’ll watch the stars from Vi Da hamlet.
The next afternoon, we’ll hire a sampan to enjoy Huong River where the breeze is so cool.
We’ll also hear the sounds of the bell of Thien Mu pagoda which cause us remembering the souvenirs of the old days.
The next day, we’ll leave Hue heading to Hoi An. Our car will have to climb Hai Van hill. The road looks short but it is very far.
Don’t you want to visit Con market, Thu Bon River and the streets of Da Nang?
The city is not big but the population is so crowded.
Then we’ll continue to go to Nha Trang, Phan Thiet.
We’ll head to Saigon. Tan Son Nhat International Airport will be here very soon.
We’ll be in the central of Saigon, the Pearl of the South East Asia.
We’ll visit Ben Thanh market, Bach Dang harbour, and Bong bridge.
Saigon is so crowded, especially at the zoo.
We’ll also visit the Faculty of Letters, and Gia Long High School.
Honey! I will take you around our country as I just mentioned,
What do you think about it? What do you think about our heritage?
By the way, I’d like to tell you about my love I have for you. It is like from a beautiful full moon.
In the future, I will take you to Ca Mau and Nam Quan,
And also Phu Quoc, Truong Sa and Hoang Sa Islands.
These famous territories are from our ancestors to give to all of us.
I will love you as well as our country where shores are washed by the Dong Hai sea.
Well, we’ll keep it cảefullyu
to give to the next generations!
